(More customer reviews)We discovered this litter in the grocery store. Like many others, we try and balance budget with health when it comes to our cats.
We'd been using a combination of the Arm & Hammer multi-cat litter with World's Best Litter...we like the clay, but have heard it can sometimes be hazrdous for cats, so we've evened it out with corn-based litter. This combo has worked out nicely, but it means we're paying about double for litter, so we tried Scoop Away because it was on sale and looked like a similar consistency to Arm & Hammer.
First off, upon pouring it into the litter box...A LOT of dust came up, irritating my eyes and my nose. Second, the fragrance for the litter was OVERWHELMING, to the point where it made our entire studio apartment (which is rather big) smell like the littler. It smells like cheap perfume, which is nice enough I guess, but it's so strong that it filled up the entire scent of our apartment.
A couple of our cats sneezed when entering it, and I noticed they were licking their paws more than usual (one of the complains about this littler has been that it tracks a lot---despite it saying it's dust free). I don't want them putting this stuff into their digestive system, not a good sign.
Within 24 hours, I had returned it to the grocery store and exchanged it for our usual combo of Arm & Hammer and corn-based littler (which is usually World's Best Cat Litter---though not always---we also sometimes go for Nature's Miracle, which is usually cheaper and you get more quantity for your buck).
For the health of my cats, I'd rather pay a few extra bucks to make sure they remain healthy and have litter that they like. I would give this 1-2 stars, but I only tried it out for 24 hours so I'm trying to be fair.
