It does not replace the vet, it is simply a home-monitoring tool to help you keep a closer eye on kitty and to know when to take him to the vet. One caveat: if you have a jumbo litter box, they barely give you enough detection crystals. You may need to use 2 bags (which means using bags from 2 boxes of product). Each box of product comes with kitty litter and a bag of "detection" crystals, that you sprinkle on top. If crystals turn blue, get kitty to vet.
