(More customer reviews)We've had this item for about 6 months now. Had 2 large 'senior' cats until last week, when we got a 2 year old from a local shelter.
1) I used to hate cleaning the litterbox. Hate hate hate. Hate. A lot. Get the picture? I'd only do it when the cats were staging sit-ins and holding protest signs. Now I clean the litterbox every night, AND IT DOESN'T BOTHER ME! Love this product! You don't have to smell anything, touch anything... It's absolutely the best ever.
2) I've had several Littermaid litterboxes, and the engines on all three broke within a month. They were also messy and noisy and smelly. This? All self-contained, and there's nothing to break.
3) Some people are complaining about breaking the clips that hold the 2 halves together. I dunno, maybe they play the Incredible Hulk on tv or something. Mine haven't broken, and if they do break, it'll be an easy fix with twist ties or zip ties or pipecleaners or even string, for crying out loud. I seriously don't know why these people are whining.
4) We got the new cat, so I set up an extra ("normal") litterbox to make things easier on the three of them. They all (including the new little girl) refused to use the new regular litterbox, preferring this thing.
5) Tidy Cat, Fresh Step, Arm & Hammer litter all work fine. Feline Pine scoopable is too light and it won't sift properly. When you turn over the box to clean the litter, just give it a couple good thumps on the bottom with your hand and the Klingons will fall right off.
6) Just make sure you get the large size. My boys are 10 and 14 pounds, and I can't see them fitting in the other size.
Final analysis? Must have for anyone with a cat!
