(More customer reviews)I've tried a lot of litter boxes, including the automatic Litter Robot, but this is the best litter box I have found. I LOVE it. It seems silly that I feel so strongly about a litter box, but I have 4 cats, and anything I can do to make this daily chore less icky is really important to me.
Pros:
- Hands down the best thing about this litter box is the "Nonstick" finish. One of my cats likes to pee right at the corner or side of the litter box. In all other litter boxes I've ever had, this results in a clump that is difficult to clean out, since I have to pry the clump away from the side and scrape down the side of the litter box with the litter scoop. Of course it never comes away in one piece, so all the scraping can get really gross. This is my least-favorite part of cleaning the litter box. Somehow the finish of THIS litter box is magically nonstick. It's like Teflon for cat-litter clumps (I use normal clumping clay litter) and it is AWESOME. Almost none of the clumps stick to the side or corners, so it reduces my daily litterbox-cleaning time by about 50%. Also I would recommend having a fairly deep litter bed (at least 4 inches) since that cuts down on clumps touching the bottom.
- I've found I no longer need to do a full litter change every month as long as I clean the litter box every day. The full litter changes are usually needed because over time, the litter starts to accumulate very small micro-clumps that you are not able to get out with the litter scoop. These degrade the overall clumping ability of the litter. Since I can now lift out the clumps in the corner without breaking them up or scraping them down, the litter doesn't really form micro-clumps.
- The box also needs less work during the monthly cleaning. With other boxes, since clumps stick to the side, by the end of the month there is "mud" all around the sides of the litter box, which has to be cleaned off. Now I just do a quick wipe every month because there is much less stuff clinging to the side.
- My cats like to dig around and fling litter about, and this has fairly high sides to contain the litter (I have a litter mat in the front).
- My cats seem to prefer the large size of this litter box.
Cons:
- None! What's not to love?
Comparison to Litter Robot:
- My second-most-favorite litter box is the Litter Robot. The Pro to the Litter Robot is that it automatically cleans the litter (and does a pretty good job of that).
- The Con to the Litter Robot is that only one of my 4 cats prefers the Litter Robot to this litter box. Since I have 4 cats I have to have multiple litter boxes, and it is financially unfeasible for me to replace all my litter boxes with Litter Robots.
- Also the Litter Robot costs 20x more than this litter box.
- If you have only 1 or 2 cats and can get away with just 1 litter box, and really hate cleaning the litter, then I recommend the Litter Robot. Otherwise I recommend the PETCO Mega Rectangular Litter Box.
Finally:
- Also, I recommend everyone should buy the Litter Lifter litter scoop. I couldn't find it on Amazon so you'll have to just Google it to find a supplier (I bought mine on eBay). It is sturdier than most other plastic scoops, so you can clean more quickly. It is larger than most other litter scoops, so you need fewer passes through the litter to catch all the clumps. It is well-shaped for scraping for those times when you do still need to scrape the sides. The tines are shaped vertically (hard to describe, but go look at a picture) so they catch less non-clumped litter and you spend less time sifting. Litter Lifter + Mega Litter Box = WINNER.

So big we had to call it Mega! Convenient for large cats or multi cat house holds this litter box is big enough to handle the job. The front entrance is lower to make it easy for cats to step inside. Strong plastic construction is durable for a long life and easy to clean for a healthy environment.
